BREEAM In-Use International certifies first building

Mixed-use project in Stockholm scores Very Good rating under new scheme

A mixed office and retail scheme in Stockholm is the first building to be certified under the new BREEAM In-Use International 2013 scheme.

The 17,460m2 Mentorn 1 development scored Very Good under Parts 1 & 2 of the new scheme, which was launched in June 2013. The building is owned by DNB Group and managed by Humlegården Fastigheter.  BREEAM In-Use auditor on the project was Piacon.

The assessment methodology in BREEAM In-Use International enables the comparison of assets between countries. This has been achieved through various adaptations including an energy model, where the scoring methodology is based on asset energy, operational energy and climatic data.

Gavin Dunn, director of BREEAM, said: “There are a lot more [schemes] in the pipeline – in Sweden, France, Belgium and many other countries.”
