China invites consortia for first Innovation House

11/8/2012

Developer Vanke and BRE seek team for demonstration sustainable home

Designers, developers and product and service providers are being given the chance to showcase their work in a demonstration home in Beijing, China. Vanke, China’s largest developer, is gearing up to select a team to create the first home on the Beijing Green Building Park, a collaborative project with BRE.

The Innovation House will showcase clever design solutions, low carbon technologies and building materials to meet and drive demand for sustainable development in China and around the world. It will demonstrate Vanke’s approach to future housing by providing efficient, flexible and healthy environments for occupants.

China’s sustainable showcase

The Beijing Green Building Park is based on BRE’s Innovation Park in Watford, UK. It will offer a platform for Chinese and international construction supply chains to test and trial sustainable innovations for homes and communities before applying them at volume.

Vanke and BRE are looking for consortia that include major material or product suppliers as well as architectural or multidisciplinary design practices or developers. Interested organisations are invited to complete a questionnaire – click here for more details. Successful applicants will be invited to a workshop in September setting out the next steps for developing the consortium.

The winning consortium will build its home on the Beijing Green Building Park in 2014.
